Every StrangerBase Feature Explained
From matchmaking to the friend system to AI bots — a complete walkthrough of everything StrangerBase offers and how to get the most out of each feature.
StrangerBase Team
StrangerBase packs more features than it looks like at first glance. This guide walks through every major capability — what it does, why it exists, and how to use it well.
Instant Matchmaking
Hit "Start Chat" and within seconds you're connected to another real person — no filters, no algorithm, no waiting room. The matching is intentionally random: the serendipity is the feature. You'll meet people you'd never encounter on a curated platform, and that's the point.
Guest Mode
No account required. StrangerBase generates a temporary identity for you the moment you arrive — you're ready to chat in seconds. Guest mode gives you full access to matchmaking and messaging without collecting your email or personal details.
Registered Accounts
Create an account to unlock persistent features: your friend list, chat history, and a consistent identity across sessions. Registration is optional but unlocks continuity — good for anyone who wants to build ongoing relationships rather than one-off chats.
The Friend System
When a conversation clicks, send a friend request before it ends. If they accept, they'll appear in your friends list so you can reconnect later. This bridges the gap between anonymous encounter and lasting connection — without forcing you to share external contact details before you're ready.
AI Bot Companions
If no human match is found within a few seconds, a bot persona steps in — not as a placeholder, but as a genuine conversationalist with a personality, backstory, and dynamic responses. Many users end up having extended conversations with bots without intending to. You can return to the queue for a human match at any time.
Discover (Online Users)
Browse who's currently online and initiate a chat directly with a specific person. This is useful when you want to connect with someone from a particular region or age group — more intentional than pure random matching, but still spontaneous.
Report and Block
If someone is being abusive, inappropriate, or harassing, the Report button sends their conversation to moderation for review. Block prevents any future contact from that user. Both tools are accessible in every chat window — learn where they are before you need them.
Message Persistence
Chat history is saved for 30 days for registered users, so you can scroll back through a conversation without relying on memory. After 30 days, messages are automatically deleted — balancing the value of continuity with a genuine commitment to not hoarding user data indefinitely.
